About the surroundings

Not many people know the northernmost point of the Tolnai mountain ridge where Mezőföld meets the southern loess hills which stretch to the foot of the Mecsek.

Does it end here or begin? Who decides? Anyhow, you can run your eyes over the vineyard hill of Simontornya all the way to the Villányi mountains (closing Mezőföld) and the mountains of the Eastern Bakony, as well as the fuming chimneys of Dunaújváros (marking the line of the Danube).

We recommend five hiking routes where you can visit the forests of Tolna, the vineyard hill, historical monuments: the castles in Simontornya, Ozora, Dég (Festetics) and Vajta (Zichy), and memorial sites: István Csók, painter – Cece, Gyula Illyés, writer – Pálfa, Our Lady Of Fatima Shrine – Alsószentiván.
